REM Light Rail Guide

Everything about Montreal's automated light rail system.

What is the REM?

The REM (Reseau express metropolitain) is Montreal's automated light rail network. It connects downtown Montreal to the South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and the airport. Trains are fully automated with no driver.

Stations and Coverage

The REM has 26 stations spanning 67 km. Key stations include Gare Centrale (downtown), McGill, and Edouard-Montpetit (connecting to the Blue Line), with an airport station expected to open around 2027. All stations are fully accessible with elevators and level boarding.

Fares and Transfers

REM uses the same ARTM fare system as the metro. Your OPUS card or contactless payment works the same way. Transfers between REM and Metro are included in your 120-minute fare validity.
